For Aristotle, the eyes were passive, wholly, taking in reality. For Plato, the eyes were both passive and active, creating an admixture. The schizophrenic is the third option, what I call "bright eyes". The schizophrenic's eyes are active, sometimes, obliterating reality entirely.
